ALFRED GWYNNE MORANG, 1901-1958

Tuberculosis necessitated a move to a drier climate, and Alfred Gwynne Morang relocated to Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1937. In Santa Fe, Morang's interest turned back to painting, and Morang became associated with the Transcendental Painting Group.

The group, whose founding members included Emil Bisttram, Raymond Jonson and William Lumpkins, focused on painting that transcended the sensory perceptions to that which was spiritual.
